Question: Does MPL require a formal purchase order?
- Answer: For production orders and releases, our quality system requires a written purchase document such as a P.O. or memo by fax or email. In reply, we will confirm the ship date and other order details. Click here for detailed Information for Buyers.
Question: I am a buyer. How can I get a formal quotation?
- Answer: For standard configurations, MPL customer service can provide quick prices for quantities up to 100,000 units. For custom switches or higher quantities, your MPL application engineer can prepare a written quotation. Prices are valid for 60 days from quotation.
Question: Does MPL offer quantity pricing for OEM customers?
- Answer: MPL will accept a blanket order for EAU with scheduled releases of at least 250 units.
Question: Is there a minimum production quantity?
- Answer: Minimum production quantity is 25 pieces.
Question: What forms of payment are accepted?
- Answer: American Express cards are accepted as well as prepayment by company check (United States bank.) MPL will also accept wire transfers. COD orders are not accepted at this time.
Question: Does MPL offer credit terms?
- Answer: Standard Terms (Net 30 Days) are extended to qualified customers. To apply for credit terms, send three trade references (including fax numbers), as well as a banking reference. Include DUNS No. and rating, if available.
Question: Does MPL have a return policy?
- Answer: Because our products are built to individual customer specifications...all sales are final. MPL will in some cases accept the return of new standard product. Re-stocking fee for returned product is 20%.

Question: Does MPL provide custom-built switches?
- Answer: MPL excels in providing pressure, vacuum, and differential switches which are custom-built for the user's specification. Our manufacturing facilities include die-casting, stamping, injection and compression molding, machining and assembly. We manufacture our own tooling, dies, molds, and fixtures, so turnaround on your custom design is fast!
Question: I'm a design engineer. How do I specify a new switch?
- Answer: Click here to provide application details and to request prices or samples online. You can also send us a print or sample of the switch you use today. One of our Application Engineers will help you specify the right MPL product. Samples may be required to refine the configuration.
Question: Are engineering samples available?
- Answer: Yes. Samples are custom built to application specifications. We can custom build a variety of samples within two to three weeks.
Question: Are special diaphragms options available for different media?
- Answer: We have experience in manufacturing switches with Teflon, Buna, Florosilicone, EPDM, Viton, Silicone, Kapton, as well as polyurethane. Contact your application engineer for details and availability.
Question: Are the products recognized by testing agencies?
- Answer: MPL products are U.L. and C.S.A. recognized. You can search MPL for file numbers at the UL web site, or contact your MPL applications engineer.
Question: Do you charge for application engineering assistance?
- Answer: No. Our engineers have many years of experience in applying pressure and vacuum switches in all types of applications. They are always available to answer your questions, and will help you choose (or develop) the right device to meet your specification.
Question: How much lead time does MPL require for production orders?
- Answer: Typical lead time for standard products is four to six weeks ARO.

Question: What are the typical factory tolerances on setpoints?
- Answer: Depending on the product series and pressure range, factory setting tolerance is typically 10% to 20% of the set point. Lower tolerances may be available at extra cost. Check with your applications engineer for more details.
Question: Can you provide switches with lower tolerances than those listed in your catalog?
- Answer: Yes. Contact your MPL applications engineer for assistance.
Question: What is "proof pressure"?
- Answer: Proof pressure is the maximum pressure to which a sensor device can be subjected without adversely affecting its accuracy. If proof pressure is exceeded, the switch actuation point may be permanently changed due to distortion of internal components. Click here for a complete glossary of pressure and switching terminology.
Question: Are deadbands (on-off differential) adjustable?
- Answer: Hysteresis is not selectable. When a snap-action mechanism is used (MPL 600 Series), the reset point is typically from 20%-30% of the set point.
Question: What is the typical repeatability of the products?
- Answer: Typical repeatability is within 20% of the set point, so long as other specifications (proof pressure, temperature, current) remain within operating parameters.
Question: What assures the accuracy of MPL factory-set switches?
- Answer: Depending on the production operation, we use a variety of inclined, vertical, and digital manometers, magnehelic gauges, and high pressure gauges. All metrology standards are regularly checked by an NIST-certified testing service. All instruments bear dated calibration seals which are audited by Quality Assurance.
